### Half the roof of a mid-terrace shop destroyed but no injuries reported

London Fire Brigade is asking drivers to avoid the Great West Road in Hounslow, where eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were called to a fire at a shop this afternoon.

‘Traffic is likely to be impacted by the fire, so please avoid the area if you can’ they say.

The Fire Brigade reported eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were called to a fire at a mid-terrace shop with dwellings above on Great West Road in Hounslow.

Around half of the roof was destroyed by fire. There are no reports of any injuries.

Two of the Brigade’s 32-metre turntable ladders were deployed to the scene to help fight the fire from above.

Control Officers took the first of two calls at 3.23pm and mobilised crews from Heston, Southall, Heathrow, Ealing, Hayes, Hillingdon and Kingston fire stations to the scene. The fire was under control in just over an hour, by 4.53pm.

Crews will remain on scene this evening to fully extinguish the fire, the Brigade said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
