HAMPTON’S HISTORIC RAILWAY ‘THE DIP’ BELL IS SAVED – Teddington, Middlesex, UK

The Railway Bell pub. known locally as The Dip in Hampton, has been saved after a massive community campaign including crowd-funding, it was confirmed today.

It’s understood contracts have been exchanged for the sale of the pub by freeholder and pub chain operator Stonegate and the un-named new owner, who is keeping the premises explicitly for ‘pub use.’

While the new owners’ identities were not publicly disclosed, the property is undergoing refurbishment with the intent of reopening as soon as next week.

If you are a local resident and want to track the renovation’s progress, you can stay up to date through the Save The Dip official platform or the local Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) Branch site.

The Dip not only lies in the middle of the village but for over 160 years has been the heart-beat of the community where locals meet, build friendships, celebrate achievements and personal landmarks and, sadly, say farewell to loved ones that have passed.
