When you create a free Insider account or subscribe to Insider Plus at /insider/, we collect and hold the following personal data. We hold only what the service needs, store it securely, and never sell it.

Your name (the display name you choose), email address, username, and the date you joined.

3.3.2 Your preferences

The neighbourhood you tell us is yours, your choices about email digests and alerts, and the topics you ask us to prioritise. These are used only to tailor what you see.

3.3.3 Verified Resident details (only if you choose to verify)

If you apply to become a Verified Resident, we collect your name and full home address, including postcode. Your address is stored privately, is never displayed anywhere on the site, and is used only to confirm your residency and to send the alerts you opt into. We may also record a link to one of your established social media accounts if you use that to verify; this is held privately and is not shown publicly unless you choose to make it visible.
We record whether you are verified and by which route (for example a linked account, vouching by other residents, or a posted confirmation card).

3.3.4 Membership and payments

If you take out an Insider Plus membership, we record your membership status and plan. Payments are handled by our payment provider, Stripe, we never see or store your card details; we hold only the customer and subscription reference numbers Stripe gives us, so we can manage your membership.

3.3.5 Your contributions

Comments you post on conversations, and anything you submit; noticeboard notices, articles you send us, tip-offs, enquiries and group listings. Depending on what you submit this may include your name, email address or a contact telephone number that you provide. As is standard for website comments, we also record the name, email address and IP address attached to a comment.

3.3.6 Technical

To keep you signed in securely we store session records (the type of device or browser used and the sign-in times) and, if you use it, a one-time sign-in code. Sign-in credentials are stored only in an encrypted (hashed) form.

8.1 Managing your data in the app

You do not have to email us to exercise your rights, the Insider app gives you direct control. On the Account screen, under “Your data & privacy”, you can:

See the information we hold about you, at any time;
Download a copy of your data in a portable format;
Delete your account. This permanently removes your account and all the personal information we hold about you: your preferences, any address given for verification, your notices and other submissions, and your comments are anonymised so that they can no longer be traced to you. Any active membership subscription is cancelled at the same time, so you are not charged again. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

You can still contact us at contact@davidwhiteconsulting.com to make any data request, and we will respond within one month as required by law. These self-service tools and the email route lead to the same result.

Some of our third-party service providers are located outside the UK/EU. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including:
